Recently I decided,
I was going to become a parasite.
A microscopic succubus,
That sustains itself,
Off a weaker host.
Keep a metaphorical foot,

I was going to look for number one.
Because I’m an ideas man.

See I’ve been looking to make an investment,
An investment in my future self.
I’ve been looking to make my money,
Work for me.
So I divided my one bedroom flat,
Into four separate smaller flats
And furnished them with premium appliances.
The devil isn’t just in the detail,
He’s woven into the carpet.

I advertised at 7 percent above the market rate,
To attract a higher class of renter.
Its close proximity to the city,
Makes it an attractive proposition to a high flyer in finance,
Or a family with four incomes.
They say the calibre of the client reflects the quality of the asset,
So I specified that claustrophobics need not apply.
After all if you can’t fit all of your possessions in one room,
Then you’ve probably got a problem with greed.

I prefer to keep my questions to a minimum,
Operate a don’t ask, don’t tell.
It helps when things get sticky a little bit further down the line,
When reality starts to kick in.
You’ve got to be cruel to be kind to make it in this game,
It’s dog eat dog, it’s a jungle out there.
Nobody helped me along my way,
Except my parents, and the parents of my parents' parents.
